Filing Requirements:

Patents: ARIPO


 (African Regional Industrial Property Organization) = ARIPO

(Botswana, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia and  Zimbabwe).

 


  National Patent Requirements:
  1. A Simply signed power of attorney (Form 4). The ARIPO countries in which protection is sought should be designated in the power of attorney (Power Form)

  2. Five copies of the specification, claims, abstract in English and drawings, if any.

  3. A certified copy of the basic application if priority is to be claimed (it can be filed within three months of the application filing date). The document should be submitted with its sworn English translation and, in this case, the document can be filed within six months as from the application date.

  4. An assignment of the inventor's priority rights, if any.

 

   PCT requirements:
  1. Details of the applicable class(es) of the International Patent Classification.

  2. Five copies of the specification / drawings in English.

  3. PCT advertisement.

  4. International search report.

  5. Preliminary examination report.

  6. Deed of assignment of priority rights (Form AS56) simply signed.

  7. Assignment of the Invention (Form AS54) simply signed.

  8. A Power of Attorney (can be filed later) simply signed.

  9. A List of the ARIPO states which are to be designated in the application ( Botswana,   Gambia, Ghana, Lesotho, Kenya, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia and  Zimbabwe).
