Filing Requirements:

Trademarks: Angola


  Trademark/ Service Mark Requirements:
  1. Power attorney duly legalized up to the Angolan Consulate or Apostilled according to the Hague Convention, in case there is no Angolan Consulate at country of origin, then Notarized power will be accepted. (Power Form)

  2. Prints of the mark.

  3. Details of the applicant.

  4. The list of the goods and/ or services to be covered by the mark.

  5. Certificate of incorporation or an extract from the Commercial Register with a verified Portuguese translation duly legalized or Apostilled, in case there is no Angolan Consulate at country of origin, then Notarized document will accepted.

Satisfied by Notarized documents in case there is no Angolan Consulate in the country of origin.

 

  Renewal Requirements:
  • Power of attorney must be signed and legalized by either Angolan Consul or Apostille, in case there is no Angolan Consulate at country of origin, then Notarized power will accepted, in case there is no Angolan Consulate at country of origin, then Notarized power will be accepted. (Power Form)

 

  Change of Name/ Address  Requirements:
  1. Power of attorney duly legalized up to the Angolan Consulate or Apostille, in case there is no Angolan Consulate at country of origin, then Notarized power will be accepted. (Power Form).

  2. Extract from the commercial register evidencing the change of name duly legalized up to the Angolan Consulate or Apostille, in case there is no Angolan Consulate at country of origin, then Notarized document will be accepted.

  3. Details of the mark.

 

  Assignment  Requirements:
  1. Power of attorney must be signed and legalized by either Angolan Consul or Apostille, in case there is no Angolan Consulate at country of origin, then Notarized power will be accepted. (Power Form).

  2. Deed of assignment legalized by Angolan Consul or Apostille, in case there is no Angolan Consulate at country of origin, then Notarized document will be accepted.

  3. Consideration is not acceptable.

  4. No tax implications, no stamp duty, with or without Goodwill.

  5. No provision for pending applications may be assigned.

 

  Searches:
  1. Method of search: Conducted manually on the official records.

  2. Content: Search report includes information of prior marks hit by the search and comments on similarity between the subject mark and each relevant prior mark.

  3. Other: Search on actual use of prior mark is not possible.

Classification: International Classification.

 

Claiming priority under Paris Convention: No.

 

Filing international registration under Madrid Agreement: No.

 

Filing international registration under protocol to Madrid Agreement: No.

 

Registrable: Trademarks, service marks.

 

Time from filing to registration: 5 years.
