Filing Requirements:

Trademarks: Bangladesh

  Trademark/ Service Mark Requirements:

  1. Simply signed power of attorney (Power Form).

  2. Fifteen specimens of the mark.

  3. List of goods/services and classification.

  4. First date of use of the mark in Bangladesh and proof thereof.

 

  Renewal Requirements:

 

  Change of Name/ Address Requirements:

  • Official document certifying change of name, issued by registrar of the Companies or Secretary of State.

 

  Assignment Requirements:

  1. Assignment document signed by both parties under seal and signed by the assignee.

  2. Nominal consideration, no Tax implication, no stamp duty.

  3. With or without Goodwill, pending application may be assigned.

  4. Unregistered mark may be signed.

 

  Searches:

  1. Method of search: conducted manually.

  2. Time to be taken: 30 days.

  3. Contents: search report includes comments on similarity between the subject mark and each relevant prior mark.

 

General Information:

Classification of Goods/ Services: International Classification.

 

Claiming priority under Paris Convention: Yes.

 

Filing international registration under Madrid Agreement: No.

 

Filing International registration under Madrid protocol Agreement: No.

 

Registration duration: 7 years from the date of application.

 

Renewal duration: 14 years.

 

Time until issuance of certificate: 6 years..

 

Opposition period: 4 months.

 

Renewal application: Within 6 months before expiry.

 

Use: Time necessary to obtain registration is around 6 years. Protection period is seven years renewable for 15 year periods.
