Filing Requirements:

Trademarks: Gambia


  Trademark/ Service Mark Requirements:
  1. Power of Attorney (Not Legalized). (Power Form)

  2. Six prints of the mark.

  3. Certified copy of corresponding UK registration certificate in case of cotton goods that fall in classes 23, 24 and 25.

 

  Renewal of Trademark/ Service Mark Registrations:

 

  Change of Name/Address Requirements:
  1. Simply signed power of attorney (Power Form).

  2. Certificate of Change of Name, with verified English translation.

  3. Original Certificate of Registration for endorsement.

 

  Assignment Requirements:
  1. Power of Attorney (Not Legalized). (Power Form)

  2. Deed of Assignment or other instrument of title, with verified English translation.

  3. Original Certificate of Registration for endorsement.

 

General Information:

Classification: The old British Classification of 50 classes is applied until 2 April 2008 by implementing the Act for 1989; single class filing system is adopted.

 

Claiming priority under Paris Convention: Yes.

 

Registrable: Trademarks, certification marks.

 

Time from filing to registration: 6 months.

 

Registration Duration: 14 years from filing date.

 

Renewal Duration: 14 years.

 

Renewal Application: 2 - 4 months before expiry.

 

Publication: After application trademarks Journal.

 

Opposition Period: 3 months.

 

Use: Non-use for 5 years following registration makes the registration vulnerable to cancellation; it is possible to file an intent-to-use application in Gambia.
